Senior Recital, March 21

The Malone University College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences – Department of Music will present a senior recital Monday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center (pictured). The performance – featuring Matthew Clear, a music education major from Beaver, PA, baritone; and Randall Gernovich, a music education major from Corry, PA, piano – is free and open to the public.

 Randall Gernovich is a senior majoring in music education. He studies piano with Sandra Carnes. His secondary instrument is trumpet which he studies with Chris Hall. He is the field commander of the Pioneer Spirit Marching Band and is a member of the Symphonic Band, University Chorale, and the Piano Ensemble. Randall has also participated in Piano Extravaganzas VI and VII. Randall is a member of the Malone University Chapter of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association and the Music Educators National Conference. He was awarded the J Walter and Emma Malone Scholarship, the Carnes Piano Pedagogy Scholarship, and a Vocal Music Scholarship. Randall teaches piano through the Malone University Preparatory Program. He has been involved in “Celebration,” a student ministry at Malone, for the past three years. Randall is a native of Corry, Pennsylvania.

Matthew David Clear is a senior music education major, studying voice with Cynthia Wolshlager. He is a member of the Malone Chamber Choir and serves as student conductor and president for the University Chorale. Matthew studies piano as his secondary instrument with Sandra Carnes and participated in Grand Piano Extravaganzas VI and VII. Currently, he studies conducting with David Donelson. Matthew is the choir director at Salem Mennonite Church in Kidron, Ohio. On campus, he works in the Office of Admissions as a student assistant and tour guide. In the summer of 2009, he participated in the Lutheran Summer Music Academy, working as the choir intern under the supervision of Sandra Peter at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He holds memberships with the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association and the Music Educators National Conference. Matthew is a native of Beaver, Pennsylvania.
