Spencer Rennels Research Recognized at OFIC Undergraduate Research Symposium

Four current students and one 2009 alumna represented Malone University at the recent Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges’ undergraduate research symposium held at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.

At the close of the conference, OFIC President Gordon Brollier announced several recognitions from among the 121 student posters. Malone University’s Spencer Rennels, a junior music production major from North Granby, CT, was recognized for his poster titled "Musique Concrete and Digital Music Composition." The research explores ways in which natural sounds can be combined to make music.

The poster was also featured at Malone University's third annual undergraduate research symposium earlier this spring. Rennels’ advisor is Malone University associate professor of music, Jack Ballard Ph.D..

As a result of his public recognition at the Symposium, Rennels was invited to present his research at the OFIC’s annual “Evening of Excellence” reception and banquet this month.

Among those congratulating Rennels on his fine work was State Senator Scott Oelslager.
