The Malone University College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences – Department of Theology will present an information meeting regarding the master of arts degree in theological studies Saturday, April 9 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the café of Berean Christian Store – Copley, located at 143 Rothrock Road, Suite A, in Copley.
The master of arts in theological studies is a 36-hour degree designed specifically to prepare non-ordained church staff, lay leadership and parachurch leaders. Courses are taught at a high level and are carefully crafted to link theoretical knowledge with real ministry situations. At every stage, students are pushed to consider the implications of their study for their own church situation. The MATS program is designed primarily to serve non-ordained church and parachurch ministry leaders; however some denominations will regard the degree as an appropriate credential for ordination. Program participants should consult their church or denominational leadership for guidance in this area.
This innovative concentration, pioneered at Malone, prepares leaders to serve in a ministry opportunity that touches the mind, soul, and body. The concentration is designed to deepen the student’s understanding of scripture and theology and to encourage the student to reflect on how this knowledge can help one serve the church as well as the wider culture.
