Malone University has named Joy Brathwaite as vice president for finance and business affairs. In this position, she will serve as the institution’s chief financial officer. She replaces Richard Rieder, who relocated earlier this year.
Brathwaite brings more than 20 years of finance experience to her new position, most recently as assistant dean for administration at Regent University School of Divinity (Virginia Beach, VA), with prior positions as manager of financial reporting for the Assemblies of God General Council Headquarters (MO), and reimbursement manager for HealthFirst, Inc. (New York, NY).Brathwaite earned the bachelor of science degree in economics and financial management from the University of the West Indies, Barbados; and the master of science degree in administration from Central Michigan University. In addition, she holds a degree in pastoral theology studies and has completed coursework for CPA designation. She is a member of ATS (Association of Theological Schools) accreditation committee for the School of Divinity; a member of NACUBO (National Association of Colleges and Universities Business Officers); and a member of the ATS steering committee for chief financial officer 2007 – 2009 conferences.
She and her husband, Renae, have two children, Kara and Andrew. Brathwaite will begin her assignment in November.
