Dorian LeljakThe Malone University College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences – Department of Music announces the next offering in its popular Faculty Artist Series with pianist Dorian Leljak, Monday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center, located on the campus at 2600 Cleveland Avenue NW. The recital is free and open to the public. A program follows.

Dorian Leljak, D.M.A., has won several international piano competitions (including the Rachmaninov Competition - Belgrade, Novi Sad Piano Competition) and been awarded numerous prizes, including a University of Novi Sad Merit Award, Yale University Mary Clapp Howell, Irving Gilmore and Parisot Prizes. He has appeared in recitals and with orchestras including the Windstrings Orchestra, Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, Yale Philharmonia Orchestra, Belgrade Philharmonics, Belgrade Radio-Television Orchestra, Voyvodina Philharmonics, Yale Repertory Orchestra, and many others. He has established collaborations with cellist Istvan Varga and pianist Ninoslav Zivkovic. In 2002, he made his debuts in Carnegie Hall and Boston Philharmonia Hall.

Leljak is professor of piano at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and also teaches at the Royal College of Music in London. He also has taught at the Yale School of Music and studied with Arbo Valdma and with Boris Berman (DMA, Yale University).

Leljak is artistic director of the International Isidor Bajic Piano Competition, president of the World Piano Teachers Association (WPTA) and the World Piano Conference (WPC), president of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) – Voyvodina, executive director of the Panopticum Musicum/Musica Ricercata/Omnibus Musicus International Music Schools, as well as Southeast Europe Representative for the ABRSM (London).

He is a member of the jury at many international piano competitions including the Cleveland International Piano Competition (USA), Rome International Piano Competition (Italy), Enschede International Piano Competition for Young Musicians (The Netherlands), International Piano Competition in Namur/Waterloo (Belgium), Chopin Mazovia Piano Competition (Poland), Top of the World Piano Competition Tromsø (Norway), and EWON Cheonan Competition (Korea).  He has given master classes and lectures around the world, including the University of Pretoria, the South-African Association of Music Teachers, Conservatoire de Namur-Jambes, University of Missouri-Columbia, Chetham's International Festival and Summer School for Pianists, Syracuse University-Setnor School of Music, Hartford University-Hartt School of Music, Xavier University, Academy of Music Waterloo, Anton Bruckner Universität in Linz, Michigan University in Ann Arbor, Schloss Weinberg in Kefermarkt, Westminster Choir College at Rider University in Princeton, ASIA International Piano Academy in Cheonan, EWON Cultural Center in Seoul, Scotch College in Melbourne, Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide, University of Western Sydney and many others.
