Malone University names Michelle M. Searer as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing
Malone University President David A. King announced today that Michelle M. Searer has been named its new vice president for enrollment management and University marketing at the 120-year old institution. Searer most recently served as associate vice president for enrollment management and marketing at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She has also served as director of marketing and communications at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Ind. She will begin her new assignment on September 17.
A seasoned executive with more than 20 years of experience with nearly 15 years served in higher education, Searer impressed university officials with her established track record of developing and implementing strategic initiatives that have resulted in enrollment and revenue growth. She is a proven expert in the areas of integrated marketing, enrollment management, student services, student retention, and strategic planning. As associate vice president for enrollment management and marketing at College of DuPage, Searer was instrumental in achieving the largest overall enrollment growth in several years, a significant rise in new student and incoming freshman enrollment and an increase of academically enriched students with ACT scores of 28 or above. In addition, she developed the College's first strategic marketing communications plan and branding initiative. At Indiana University Northwest Searer's, enrollment and marketing efforts resulted in the University's largest multiple-year enrollment growth in 10 years which included a significant enrollment increase in the newly launched executive MBA program and a focused increase in minority student enrollment.
As the University's strategic and operational leader enrollment management and marketing, Searer will play a central role in providing vision and leadership for undergraduate and graduate recruitment, admissions, financial aid, retention and marketing. She will lead the University's efforts to successfully integrate and synchronize the enrollment process to achieve a high level of student matriculation and retention.
An active community member, Searer has served in leadership positions with America's Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Indiana; Lakeshore Public Television; Leadership Northwest Indiana; Southshore Leadership Center; Quality of Life Council Cultural Connections; United Way, Kankakee Valley Pop Warner; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; as well as the Chambers of Commerce for Glen Ellyn, Ill, and the Crown Point, Gary, Lakeshore, Merrillville, Hobart, and Valparaiso chamber in Northwest Indiana. She has also taken on leadership positions at her church, Faith Lutheran in DeMotte, Ind, and with the Indiana University Alumni Association.
Searer is a member of American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), American Marketing Association (AMA), Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Indiana-CASE (I-CASE) Board of Directors, National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), and Southshore Leadership Center - Leadership Northwest Indiana (LNI).

Searer is pursuing her Ph.D. in higher education leadership from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn. She holds a post master's certificate (PMC) in enrollment management from Capella University in partnership with Noel-Levitz, Inc., and both a master of business administration (M.B.A.) degree and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Ind. Her areas of research interest include the retention of under-prepared and underrepresented student populations and using technology applications for streamlined student service.
