6445-October 19, 2012
In honor of the inauguration of David A. King, the new Malone University president and his wife, Winnie, will present the gift of literacy to area school children by encouraging them to read. A children's literature class from The School of Education and Human Development selected the award-winning children's book, One by Kathryn Otoshi to be donated to all Canton City Schools elementary libraries.
As a special treat, Dr. and Mrs. King read the book to second graders at Clarendon Elementary School earlier today.
One is the winner of ten awards, including the E.B. White Read Aloud Honor, the Young Voice Foundation Award, and the Teachers' Choice Award. An anti-bullying, number/color book, One introduces the concepts of acceptance, tolerance, and what it means to stand up, make a difference, and count!
