Malone University Offers Reading Endorsement Program for Educators

April 4, 2013 | Release # 6594

The Malone University School of Education and Human Development offers the reading endorsement program for educators.

In an effort to assist teachers who need the endorsement in a timely manner, Malone will be offering all of the courses over the summer (Summer I, Summer II, and Summer III). This makes it possible for teachers who need all six courses to complete the program during Summer 2013. Graduate courses taken at Malone University for the reading endorsement may be applied to a graduate degree in Reading or Curriculum and Instruction with the completion of other program requirements (minimum of 36 graduate hours) within seven years. Courses leading to the Reading Endorsement are being offered at a discounted tuition rate of $425 per credit hour through spring 2014.

The Malone University reading endorsement program has been approved by the Ohio Board of Regents and adheres to all applicable policies regarding such programs. The program consists of 20 semester hours (six courses) of graduate coursework. It is possible that applicants who have taken reading courses in the last 10 years may not need to take all 20 hours. An individual transcript audit will determine how many courses an individual will need to be eligible for the endorsement. A passing score on an ODE required reading test (currently the Praxis II) is also required to obtain the endorsement.

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs. Malone has been recognized by the prestigious Templeton Foundation as a leader in character development, as one of Northeast Ohio’s Top Workplaces by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and is ranked among the top colleges and universities in the Midwest under the category Regional Universities according to U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2015
