Malone University President David A. King elected to Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce board of directors

Malone University President David A. King was recently elected to the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce board of directors for a three-year term.
"Since arriving in Canton in January '12, Winnie and I have appreciated the hospitality and dynamic nature of the region," he remarked. "It is indeed a privilege to be given the opportunity to serve an organization that plays such a vital role in the vibrant future of the Canton / Stark County community during these challenging yet exciting times."
David King currently serves as president of Malone University, an appointment he assumed in January 2012. Previously, he served for more than 20 years at Eastern University (Penn.), most recently as provost.
With more than 30 years in human resources and higher education administration, prior appointments at Eastern included executive dean of the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies, chief development officer of the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies, vice president for administration and director of human resources. He also taught Interpersonal and Group Communication in Eastern's undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences and Human Resources Management and Supervision in Eastern's adult program.
Dr. King earned his bachelor's degree in social work from Eastern Mennonite University and a dual master's degree in human services administration and human resource development from Villanova University. He holds a doctoral degree from Temple University in education leadership and policy studies with a concentration in higher education administration.
David has served the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) as a director at the local, regional and national levels having served as chair of the Eastern Region Board. In 2000, he was a co-recipient of the CUPA-HR Excellence in Human Resources Practice Award. In 2001 he was named the recipient of the Diedrich K. Willers Award from the CUPA-HR Eastern Region in recognition of contributions over a period of years to the cumulative knowledge and stature of human resources within higher education and in 2004 he was awarded the National CUPA-HR Distinguished Service Award and granted Honorary Life Membership.
David has served as a director on the Esperanza College Council, Eastern University's Hispanic-serving branch campus; World Impact / Frederick Douglass Christian School local advisory board; and on the board of trustees of Delaware County Christian School.
