Malone University Online Student Newspaper – The Aviso – awarded by Evangelical Press Association
May 17, 2013 | Release # 6633
The Malone University online student newspaper The Aviso AVW (Audio. Visual. Web.) received the third recognition in as many months when recently awarded an Award of Excellence by the Evangelical Press Association in the campus digital category.
Judges' comments stated that the weekly online publication has "strong depth of content; this is tough to keep up in a web environment. Very well done—no wonder it captured an ONA (Ohio Newspaper Association) award, too."
The Aviso had taken First Place for Best Collegiate Newspaper Website in its division from the Ohio Newspaper Association, and has also been named a finalist in the Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker contest for the second year in a row. Malone is the only Ohio university found on the list of finalists in the online-only category.
This is the second year The Aviso has won the Evangelical Press Association award. Faculty advisor for The Aviso AVW is David Dixon, Ph.D., professor of communication arts.
Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs.
