Clare Murray Adams, Malone University professor of visual arts, will exhibit her dress installation titled In Her Closet: Clothing as Metaphor September 18 - October 6 in the John Hartman Photography Studio, Grand Rapids, Mich., as part of the ArtPrize competition 2013.

ArtPrize is an international art competition, open to any artist and decided by public vote, promoting critical dialogue and collaboration throughout the year.

In Her Closet: Clothing as Metaphor is an installation of 12 sheer organza dresses. The choice of fabric is a conscious effort to address the transparency of one's identity. The sheer fabric allows the viewer to see the way in which the garment has been constructed which demonstrates the process in sewing a swell as the process of living. The characteristics of each dress are universal...emotions anyone may have experienced from time to time.

ArtPrize is the world's largest art prize, and the largest art competition to decide its awards by public vote, resulting in an active exchange of ideas from populist to professional and everyone in-between.

The 2013, ArtPrize will distribute 16 awards totaling $560,000.
$360,000 will be decided by a direct vote of attending visitors.
$200,000 will be decided by a panel of jurors.
