Malone University ready to launch new RN to BSN “hybrid” degree completion program

August 13, 2013 | Release # 6680

Fall semester 2013 will bring a number of new programs and program updates to Malone University, among them: the RN to BSN degree completion program, which will now be available as an online/on-ground hybrid program.

The hybrid feature of the program will offer the best of both worlds: the flexibility of online learning with the traditional approach of face-to-face learning. The year-long program, spread over 14 months, allows registered nurses to earn the equivalent of a 4-year bachelor's degree, with all requirements accomplished with a unique mix of one evening per week courses and online courses.

Malone University's dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Debra Lee, Ph.D., says that research suggests the combination of online learning with traditional ground classroom and clinical instruction makes for the best learning outcomes. A hallmark of nursing instruction at Malone University is the emphasis on relationships, caring for people with professional competence and Christ-like compassion.

"As a profession, and to the nurse, we know that relationships are a key component of positive outcomes - at the bedside and in our collaborative endeavors," Dr. Lee says. "Malone has a vested interest in students' success and we believe that this program, which fosters a personal connection with our students in today's technologically adept culture, is an innovative way to ensure that success."

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs. Malone has been recognized by the prestigious Templeton Foundation as a leader in character development, as one of Northeast Ohio’s Top Workplaces by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and is ranked among the top colleges and universities in the Midwest under the category Regional Universities according to U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2014 , and is named to AffordableCollegesOnline (ACO)’s Best Lifetime Return on Investment list for the State of Ohio.
