Malone University offers free tutoring program through America Reads/America Counts

Malone University will again be participating in the America Reads/America Counts free tutoring program for the 2013-14 school year. Half-hour tutoring sessions in reading, math, or both are held Monday through Thursday from 3:30- 7:30 p.m. Tutoring sessions take place in room #70 of Founders Hall on the campus located at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W. in Canton, Ohio. The highly successful program, now in its 12th year at Malone, is under the direction of Patti and Jack Freeder. Patti retired from Coventry High School after teaching English for 32 years in grades 7 – 12. Jack retired after teaching in the Coventry local school district for 33 years at the elementary and middle school level. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program.
Tutors are Malone University students, most of whom are education majors. Parents must remain on the premises during the tutoring session and a waiting room is provided. The free program is available to all Stark County elementary students as well as those from surrounding counties.
