Suspect taken into custody on Malone University campus

At 10:40 a.m. today, Malone University safety personnel were notified that a robbery suspect had been taken into custody on campus.
According to reports, this was the result of an unsuccessful attempted robbery at a local shopping center. The suspect was chased onto the University's campus and immediately apprehended. University officials were told by Canton police that there was no mention of the suspect being armed.
Once information was available, the University informed students, faculty, and staff via the campus's emergency alert system, and told that -- had there been a need for Campus lockdown – the campus community would have been notified with further instructions.
The University also reminded the campus community to review information regarding campus alerts found on the University's intranet.
