Malone University ministry team providing Canton’s youth with an experience of EPIC proportions – event scheduled for November 23

November 15, 2013 | Release # 6773

Rachel Hunka, a member of the spiritual formation staff at Malone University through the Coalition for Christian Outreach, and husband Corey Hunka, a 2012 graduate of Malone, are leading more than 100 Canton city students in a movement of EPIC proportions.

The husband and wife team serve at LoveCanton – Rachel in communications, and Corey as youth pastor, where he oversees four student gatherings that meet weekly.

Last year, Corey along with fellow Malone University alumni James Talbert and Michael Barnes, partnered with three local churches to host LoveCanton's first youth conference, EPIC (Every Person Is Crucial).  With its success, the now annual conference will present EPIC 2014, uniting seven local churches and anticipating at least twice the amount of students attending as last year.

The Hunkas have established a fundraiser to help defray the cost of the conference for students.

A basketball game fundraiser will take place Saturday, November 23 at 3 p.m. at The Martin Center, located at 1253 3rd Street SE in Canton, Ohio.

The fundraiser, run by Hunkas' students and leaders in partnership, is proving to be a great opportunity for mentoring and discipleship.

"We've seen God working in and through the lives of our students and cannot wait to share another EPIC weekend with them," says Rachel.
