Malone University Student Recital is scheduled for November 25

College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences. The Malone University Department of Music will present a student recital Monday, November 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center, located on the campus at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W. in Canton, Ohio. The program featuring Charles Stead, voice; with Michael Curtis, guitar; and Deanna Parks, piano with performances by Seth Kenyon, piano; and Joy Regimbal, violin, is free and open to the public.
Charles Stead, a junior music major with a concentration in vocal performance from East Sparta, Ohio, has had a college career that includes a variety of performance styles. Most notably, he is the lead vocalist for Andrew In Vienna, an independent Christian rock band that appeared at the Alive Festival in 2013. Charles has also appeared in a number of professional theatre productions over the years, and has had various radio appearances. This past summer, he toured throughout Italy with Malone's Chamber Choir. Charles is a member of ASCAP and studies with Angela Rose.
Michael Curtis, D.M.A. earned a B.M.A. in guitar performance from University of Akron, an M.M. in guitar performance from the University of Arizona, and D.M.A. from Case Western Reserve and The Cleveland Institute of Music. In addition to his study in the United States, Dr. Curtis has studied flamenco music in Seville, Spain, held a Fulbright Scholarship in Uruguay, and studied in Ecuador on a Rotary Scholarship. His guitar teachers include John Holmquist, Thomas Patterson, and Stephen Aron. He has given many performances in the United States and abroad. He has also composed many arrangements and published articles. He has taught guitar at Bowling Green State University, The College of Wooster, Malone University, and The Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. He enjoys working with other artists and has released four CDs.
Deanna Parks graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a B.A. in music education with a piano emphasis. She taught K-4 music for South Euclid - Lyndhurst city schools for seven years. She also has taught at Weaver Child Development Center and St. Joan of Arc School. Deanna was church accompanist for many churches including Canton First Church of the Nazarene and Willoughby Hills Evangelical Friends Church. Deanna has accompanied high school choirs at Brush High School and Glen Oak High School. This is Deanna's first year as a collaborative artist for Malone University.
