College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences.
Malone University zoo and wildlife biology majors, all members of ZOOM Club, recently assisted the local animal protective organization Peace for Pets in constructing winter homes for feral cats. The students volunteered their time constructing small homes of insulated repurposed plastic storage bins which will be distributed throughout the area, offering warm shelter from Ohio's blustery winter weather.
A feral cat is a domestic cat, distinguished from a stray cat which is a pet cat that has been lost or abandoned. Feral cats are born in the wild.
Karyn Collie, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology, participated with the following students:
- Marionna Cane, a junior zoo and wildlife biology major from Schererville, Ind.
- Douglas Bowers, a senior sport management major from Parma, Ohio
- Jesse Sockman, a freshman zoo and wildlife biology major from Jefferson, Ohio
- Hilary Mullane, a junior zoo and wildlife biology major from Massillon, Ohio
- Rebecca Perruci, a sophomore zoo and wildlife biology major from Marietta, Ohio
