Malone University launches new program in social work
December 5, 2013 | Release # 6789
College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences. The Malone University Department of Social Work will launch a new program beginning fall semester, 2014. The program is designed to assist persons who have already acquired some college credits, but whose schedules require evening courses in order to obtain a bachelor's degree in social work.
Malone University graduates boast a high licensure passing rate with most employed in a social work position within six months of graduation. Malone's social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE); graduates are eligible for advanced standing in many master of social work (MSW) programs, often allowing alumni to finish in one year of full-time study rather than two.
Malone University's exceptional faculty includes Social Worker of the Year recipients. Faculty members are committed to assisting students to learn how to practice professionally in an ever changing world.
Malone offers numerous opportunities for internships and field placements with a wide variety of populations and client systems- from hospitals, homeless shelters and correctional facilities to elder care, adoption and child protective agencies. In addition, Malone students can opt for field experiences in locations across the globe through international social work. The program has specific opportunities to study in Denmark, Romania and Uganda. Students with international interest can combine this major with a dual major or a minor in Global Studies.
Graduates from this unique program will be prepared to serve the most vulnerable groups of society. Interested persons may contact Malone University Admissions at 1-800-521-1146 or Jane Hoyt-Oliver, Ph.D., chair, Department of Social Work, at 330-471-8180.
