The Saint John’s Bible leaves Canton Museum of Art after March 2. Malone University is home to the Heritage Edition

St. John's Bible - 10 CommandmentsYou have until 5 p.m. Sunday, March 2, to see The Saint John's Bible at The Canton Museum of Art. After that, it will complete its tour of major cities and head for home -- Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn. - where it will be bound and kept on permanent display.

But if you are one of the few who missed this remarkable achievement – one of the Museum's most notable exhibits in its impressive history – or if you have seen it and would like to spend more time with the masterpiece, all is not lost.

Malone University is home to The Saint John's Bible Heritage Edition, housed in the Everett L. Cattell Library on the campus at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W. in Canton, Ohio. The Bible is on display during regular library hours:

Monday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday: 2 - 10 p.m.
Closed during community worship hour on Wednesday: 10 - 11 a.m. 

No appointment is necessary. Currently, Malone University owns four of the seven volumes and displays one volume at a time. The remaining three volumes – as well as an 8th volume explaining how The Saint John's Bible was created – will arrive in the future.

The Heritage Edition is a full-size reproduction of the original masterpiece. Each of the seven volumes that make up The Saint John's Bible measures approximately 2 feet tall by 3 feet wide when open. The works weigh between 30-60 pounds. Thanks to the creative leadership of Donald Jackson, the artistic director of the original manuscript, the Heritage Edition is a work of art in its own right. Leading manuscript experts around the world who have seen the Heritage Edition recognize it as the highest quality reproduction ever made. Each of these 299 limited editions is numbered and signed by Donald Jackson. The Vatican owns # 1; Malone University owns # 64.
