The Malone University Enactus team advanced to quarter finals in recent national competition where they received an award for "Opening Round Finalist." The team – led by Beth Postlewaite, instructor of business – includes:

  • Chapter president, Elizabeth Baldridge, a 2014 business administration graduate from Springfield, Ohio
  • Grace Roth, a 2014 business administration graduate from Butler, Penn.
  • Jeremy Kimble, a 2014 business administration graduate from New Philadelphia, Ohio
  • Brock Lundeen, an MBA student from Canton, Ohio
  • Heather Wilkinson, a 2014 business administration graduate from Malvern, Ohio
  • Christina Yu, a sophomore business administration major from Louisville, Ohio

The team was invited to a Sam's Club reception to receive the "Step Up for Small Business" grant award. Malone's team was in the top ten of more than one hundred competing schools. The award was presented by Seong Ohm, VP of Merchandising for Sam's Club.

Postlewaite explained that the competition format was changed this year. Historically, there has been a regional competition and then a national competition. This year Enactus introduced the new format in which there is one national competition for all participating teams. Judges were representatives from the Enactus corporate partners including Hersheys, Walgreens, Coca-Cola, Wal-mart, Home Depot, etc. After the presentation, students were invited to a career fair where they were able to visit booths of more than 50 corporations and talk to recruiters.

According to Postlewaite, "We were so proud to represent Malone in the quarter-finals. There are amazing teams out there and we loved competing with them. It is a great feeling to acknowledged for the hard work we did this year! Malone has a rich history of being Regional Champions (which has been replaced by Opening Round Champions) so we are so proud to continue the tradition!" She adds, "We will be looking for small businesses and/or people in need to work with next year. I will be posting applications for these slots in the next couple of months!"
