The Malone University athletic department announced today that one of its on-going primary goals during its move to NCAA Division II has been achieved as the department met its target of attaining a combined student-athlete grade point average of 3.00 for the recent semester.
For the spring 2014 semester, the combined GPA for all 396 Pioneer student-athletes was a 3.052.  The combined GPA average for all women's teams was a 3.292 while the combined average for all men's teams was a 2.915.
Leading the way for the women's teams was cross country, at 3.587, while the men's teams were paced by swimming & diving at 3.332.
"We are extremely proud of our student-athletes at Malone as they continue to do an outstanding job of balancing academics and athletics as we've made the transition into NCAA Division II," stated Athletic Director Charlie Grimes .  "We set a goal of achieving a 3.00 combined student-athlete GPA each semester and we are very pleased to have reached that goal."
