The Department of Language and Literature regularly relies on experienced and dedicated part-time professionals to teach the following courses in its curriculum. Instructors are compensated on a per course basis.
Instructors are needed for the following courses:
Elements of English
Emphasizes writing as a recursive process and the interconnected nature of reading and writing. Offers practice with organizing and developing ideas, and provides opportunities to refine drafting, revising, and editing skills through in-class workshops and one-on-one tutoring sessions in the campus writing center.
Emphasizes writing as a recursive process and offers practice in reading and responding to expository essays. Students explore language as a means of discovering and communicating truth.
Literature and Society
Examination of enduring issues through the evaluation and interpretation of a variety of literature from different critical approaches.
An introductory course to the Spanish Language that emphasizes a communicative approach to the teaching of listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing.
Building upon the concepts introduced in the first year, this course promotes the continued development in all four skill areas: oral comprehension, verbal production, reading comprehension, and the mechanics of writing in Spanish.
- At least a Master’s level education in the discipline
- Commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring
- Commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning in the academic discipline.

How to Apply:
In an effort to find and employ the best qualified faculty, the department maintains an open and rolling application process designed to identify a group of the most highly qualified individuals who may be called upon to teach as the need arises. Individuals whose initial application materials indicate a potential fit with the department’s needs and the University’s mission may be invited for an interview with the department. Upon completion of this process, successful candidates will be informed of concrete teaching needs and timetables by the department chair. While applicants are welcome to submit materials at any time, hiring decisions are generally made in September and April for the following semester. Applicants should submit the following materials:
