Why are you drawn to the study of theology, scripture and ministry?
"The Gospel is simple, but it is also rich."
Perhaps
you simply desire to know more about what you believe.
You are someone who has always asked questions, who has always longed
to understand more about the Christian faith. You wonder about
the history of the Church, how to interpret difficult Bible passages
and what different Christian denominations believe. Some programs
in the School of
Theology are designed to increase your understanding of scriptural,
theological and ecclesiastical matters while providing a good liberal
arts foundation that will serve you no matter what your chosen
profession. Most people who take minors in the School of Theology
and some majors fit this category.
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."
Perhaps
you have a heart for people and a special desire to see them come to
know Christ more deeply. You may even have special
groups--children, youth, athletes--whom you feel called to serve. Programs in the School of Theology can prepare you to
become an assistant/youth pastor in a local congregation or lay a
foundation for the seminary training so essential to a life of
ministry. Most students who major in one of the programs in the
School of Theology fit this category.
"He gave the Church gifts."
Perhaps
you have already completed a bachelor's degree, maybe it was a long time ago.
Now, however, because of a personal sense of calling or a need in your local
church, you desire more advanced training that will make you more
effective or open up new opportunities for ministry. Perhaps you
are a minister who has never attended seminary. Malone's Master of
Arts in Christian Minsitries might be for you.
Whatever
your reasons for considering the School of Theology at Malone College,
we encourage you to consider your calling as you look at these
pages. They contain detailed information that will give you a
clearer picture of what it might look like to be a part of the School
of Theology.
