Family Planning: Ethical Options

Do you have questions about The Pill? Natural Family Planning? What is ethical? Is it ethical to plan your family? 

Learn more on Tuesday, January 14 at 7 p.m. in the Johnson Center Chapel.

Proponents are Kellie Johnson, M.D., Executive Director of Access Health and Thomas and Chiquita Seesan, certified Natural Family Planning instructors.

Moderator is Robin Adams-Weber, Assistant Professor of Nursing.

This is a Spiritual Formation credit-bearing opportunity for Malone University students.

Kellie Johnson is married to Todd, and the couple celebrated their 23rd anniversary December 29. They have two children, Ben, a junior at Champlain College; and Kenzie, a freshman at Belmont University.

Dr. Johnson graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and did her residency training at Akron City Hospital. She is an OB/GYN by training but retired from private practice 12 years ago. Since then she has been involved in improving access to health care for the poor and uninsured first as the physician at the Total Living Center Free Clinic where she practiced general medicine for seven years, and as a board member for Access Health Stark County, where she now serves as executive director.

In addition, she serves as president of the board for TomTod Ideas Inc., board vice president for Girls on the Run Stark County, and coaches the Orchard Hill team.

Chiquita and Tom Seesan are certified Natural Family Planning instructors and have been teaching the Sympto-Termal method of NFP for 28 years. They received their training at the Natural Family Planning Institute of the Diocese of Cleveland and certification from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. They currently teach classes in NFP through Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio.

The Seesans have been married for 40 years and have raised four children to adulthood. They are the proud grandparents of four of the "most perfect and beautiful grandchildren ever." Tom is a retired administrator of programs for persons with developmental disabilities. Chiquita is a registered nurse and a licensed massage therapist. They live in Massillon where they are members of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
