About the Position

Malone University invites applications for a position in creative writing at the rank of Assistant or early Associate Professor to direct our Creative Writing Program, which includes our popular University Writers Series, to start fall of 2022.


We seek an energetic writer and program director who can work across genres but with particular strength in poetry and/or fiction, with at least one book (any genre) preferred. Experience in professional writing/editing/production and in teaching literature would be a plus. Qualifications include a Ph.D. or MFA in creative writing, undergraduate teaching experience, and the ability to advise student literary publications (both print and online). 

Malone offers a major and minor in creative writing, part of an innovative English curriculum designed to suit the needs of young writers, and a new major in Professional Writing and Editing. Teaching duties for this position include a multi-genre introduction to creative writing, Poetry Writing, Fiction Writing, a multi-genre Advanced Workshop, and Literary Publishing. The successful candidate will also advise and mentor students, serve on institutional committees, and engage in program building initiatives. Existing initiatives include annual writing awards and a summer writing camp for high school students.

The position will require a commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning. Malone University is a Christian college for the arts, sciences and professions in the liberal arts tradition affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, Eastern Region.
