- Malone is a site for the national tutoring program, “America Reads, America Counts.” You can earn money while you tutor children one-on-one in half hour sessions in reading and math.
As a future educator, you are in the classroom early and often via what we call “Field Experience.” These experiences allow you exposure to the elementary classroom before your student teaching experience. Then, the student teaching semester serves as the culminating experience for the initial teacher education programs. It is the student teacher's opportunity to, within a structured, supervised field experience, refine skills, integrate theory and practice, and demonstrate accomplishment of the Malone University Teacher Candidate Proficiencies and the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
This major consists of 31 credit hours of professional education courses and 35 credit hours in intervention specialist core courses. Each course and additional requirements are listed in the official Academic Catalog.

After graduating from Malone, Shelby followed her passion for service and education, moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma to work for Teach for America.
