Spring Break Trips
Canton, OH
Experience living, learning, and serving in an urban Christian community development setting in Canton, OH. Learn about and serve within various programs and ministries that serve and empower Canton residents, right in our own city!
This trip is open to all students regardless of major.

Guatemala
Serve and learn with Hospital Shalom in Sanbenito, Guatemala.
You will experience the local Guatemalan culture while serving through assisting local leadership in providing holistic care for community members from all economic backgrounds, as you live out the gospel and community development principles and practices.
Proof of COVID vaccination is required for all trip participants.
Students should register for SOSC 212A and SOSC 213B for Pendle Hill and GEN ED credit.
Upper class nursing students should register for NURS 402.
(If a nursing major, they should take the credit required by the nursing department.)
Kimball, West Virginia
You will learn and serve with the Mennonite Central Committee in a unique area of West Virginia, as a majority Black "island" in a predominately white region. Through clean up and repairs, your work with support the rehabilitation of the Dismukes Hospital Project historical site, while learning about the experiences of Black Americans in the South during the Jim Crow era.
This trip is open to all students regardless of major.
Navajo Nation
Students will spend a week within the Navajo nation serving RezRefuge’s after school program while learning about, and building relationships with, people native who cultivated the land well before the founding of the United States.
Students should register for SOSC 212A and SOSC 213B for Pendle Hill and GEN ED credit.
Upper class nursing students should register for NURS 402.

Kenya
This trip is open to all students regardless of major.
Students should register for SOSC 212A in Spring of 2023 and SOSC 213A in Fall of 2023 for Pendle Hill and GEN ED credit.
Approximate Dates: May 5-17, 2024
Romania
Students will spend 2-3 weeks in Sighisoara, Romania, a historical medieval city, known as the birthplace of Vladimir Tepes (known as Dracula). You will experience the local culture through hands-on learning experiences and living with host families. You will serve with Veritas Sighisoara, a Christian ministry that serves at-risk children, their families, older adults, and people with disabilities. While serving, you will work alongside local Romanian leadership and learn about a model of missions and community development ministry that emphasizes local leadership.
This trip is led by Elizabeth Patterson Roe, Ph.D., who lived and served with Veritas Sighisoara for six years prior to becoming a Malone faculty member.
Students should register for SOSC 212A in Spring of 2023 and SOSC 213A in Fall of 2023 for Pendle Hill and GEN ED credit.
