Update: March 15

To the Malone University Community,

As part of our commitment to operate with an abundance of caution, I am writing to you to share an update that a person who interacts with some members of our community has been encouraged by their physician to get tested for the Coronavirus after exhibiting some symptoms. To be clear, no positive diagnosis has been confirmed. This is an inevitable result of the known trajectory of the spread of the virus.

We are obviously monitoring this situation very carefully and will share information as it becomes available. You are urged to continue to participate in all of the precautionary measures offered by the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization, Governor Mike DeWine’s office, and state health officials. These measures can be found on each of these organization’s websites and on our own here.

As an institution, we are taking extreme measures to provide for the safety of our community with deep cleaning of public spaces, the elimination of large gatherings of people, implementation of social distancing, and modifications to operations in the Dining Commons. Additionally, we are all strongly encouraged to be vigilant in implementing the directives already provided to students for entry to the residence halls. Those include washing your hands thoroughly (for 20 seconds) prior to entering your spaces, avoid -- when possible -- touching public surfaces, and work to only handle your paperwork.

If you have not done so, please refer to the information we have provided in the boxes to the right with links to previous days updates.

Thank you for your continued vigilance and collaboration.
