Update: March 23

Coronavirus Policy updated

Based on additional direction from the Center for Disease Control and state health officials, we have made a modification to the Coronavirus Policy. The modification relates to procedures should an employee or a member of the employee’s family develop symptoms of illness. The new policy is provided below with the changes highlighted.

If you or a member of your household is showing signs of illness, whether it be cold, flu, or other illnesses, the employee is not to report to work until they are free of symptoms for at least 72 hours (three full days) AND at least seven (7) days have passed since symptoms first began. At this time, employees should notify their supervisor and account their time off as sick or vacation time. A medical release to Human Resources office upon return is waived.

Streamlining email communication to the campus community

Now that all communication about responses to the Coronavirus are being done remotely, it is possible that employees may get overwhelmed and confused by both the volume of emails and the multiple channels they are coming from. To centralize the communication related to Malone’s response, we are asking that all communication directed at faculty and staff be shared through just two emails: president@malone.edu or provost@malone.edu. Messages for students will continue to be shared through the Student Development Office. Anyone who has a group message can send it to any member of the Collegium for consideration and distribution. This will reduce the amount of email traffic and focus our time and attention on the most urgent communication.

Forums being created on MaloneXpress to consolidate all Coronavirus resource information

New forums on MaloneXpress are being created to consolidate coronavirus resources and facilitate discussion among faculty and staff. Tabs will be established for specific areas of inquiry such as Online Pedagogy and Student Care. More information will be shared when the site is complete and ready for submissions.

Note: The Coronavirus Response Task Force will continue to meet on an as-needed basis, rather than daily. Updates will continue as new information emerges, but not necessarily on a daily basis.
