Update: May 18

To the Malone University Community,

The Coronavirus Task Force met today in preliminary conversations about expanding employee onsite operations beyond those employees who are in essential functions and who have continued to work on campus. For those currently working remotely, know that you will continue in this manner until further notice. There are no changes planned for June 1.

As we begin to think about the safest and most thoughtful way to bring employees back to campus, we decided we needed more information to make informed decisions. To assist us, we established an action team consisting of Jennifer Bilek, director of human resources; Deb Lee, dean of the school of nursing & health sciences, and Becky Rodak, director of the Malone Health Center. They are charged with the following:

  • Surveying faculty and staff to identify questions and concerns that must be addressed as plans are developed to return to campus-based operations. That survey will be developed this week and sent to faculty and staff prior to the holiday weekend.
  • Based on that feedback from faculty and staff, as well as updated information from the Center for Disease Control and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s office, make recommendations on the protocols and physical enhancements to campus that will need to be created and/or continued to safely return employees to campus-based operations. We are also following the recently published guidelines of the American College Health Association.

We are anticipating that we will need to bring employees back in small groups, phased in over time with decisions driven by which sectors of our operations become more urgent as we get closer to the end of the fiscal year and the start of fall classes. Our plans will include training on best practices for office based work.

There is a lot of work to be done to ready our campus and prepare our employees for a phased in launch of onsite operations. Be assured that we will communicate often as we get closer to making decisions which will change plans for groups of employees and that you will have at least a week to prepare for such a change.

Look for the survey coming out from Jen, Deb, and Becky and please help us shape our path forward with your feedback.

Finally, we are keeping in place our decision not to allow the hosting of any campus events through June based on guidance from the CDC.

Thank you for all that you are doing and for staying Pioneer Strong.

David
