Celebrations of Service
Celebrations of all kinds often culminate in gift-giving occasions. As Malone University celebrates the inauguration of President David King, we present the Greater Stark County community - and beyond - our gift of service.
Malone's mission statement expresses, "The mission of Malone is to provide students with an education based on biblical faith in order to develop men and women in intellectual maturity, wisdom, and Christian faith who are committed to serving the church, community, and world."
In that spirit, the Malone community is offering three specific acts of service to the church, community, and world:
Church: The Offices of Spiritual Formation and Church Relations hosted an Inaugural Pastors Prayer Breakfast on October 17.
Community: The School of Education and Human Development offered the book One, by Kathryn Otoshi, to the Canton City Schools elementary libraries. The book was chosen by the EDUC 300 Children's Literature class. Dr. King will read the book to children at a selected school. View a video of the book being read by Otoshi.
World: Student organizations be:justice, Fishing Club, and Social Work Club hosted a fishing derby to raise money for Remember Nhu. Remember Nhu, founded by alumnus Carl Ralston '92, prevents children from entering the sex trade by providing children with safe homes and meeting their physical, educational, emotional, and spiritual needs.
