Malone University appoints eight new board members

Malone University welcomed eight new members to its Board of Trustees during the institution’s fall meeting October 13-14.

Joining the Malone Board are:

  • Pamela Burch is a 1977 graduate of Malone who has served in positions of increasing responsibility at State Farm Insurance Company for more than 30 years. She has had a successful career as an agent, agency manager, agency field consultant, and agency field executive.
  • Peter Fowler serves as the lead pastor at Salem First Friends Church, where he has worked since 2000.  Fowler is a 2001 graduate of Malone. He has worked for Evangelical Friends Churches for more than 20 years.
  • Kevin Hammons is senior vice president, chief accounting officer, and assistant chief financial officer of Community Health Systems Inc., one of the largest publicly traded hospital companies in the United States. In his current role, Hammons oversees all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning, and investor relations. He is a 1988 graduate of Malone.
  • Bishop Joey Johnson is the organizer and senior pastor of The House of the Lord church in Akron and the presiding bishop of the Beth-El Fellowship of Visionary Churches. Johnson founded Johnson Leadership Institute  where he utilizes his powerful gifting to train and mentor senior pastors.
  • Edward Kapraly is the founder of the Riverside Native Trees and Nursery and previously served as a science teacher in Delaware, Ohio, for 27 years. He is a graduate of Hiram College and The Ohio State University and has been active with the Fulton Creek Friends Church in Richwood, Ohio.
  • Brian Miller is chief executive officer of ProVia, a leading manufacturer of professional-class exterior building projects. A 1989 graduate of Malone, Miller joined ProVia in 2006 and has been promoted to positions of increasing responsibility. Under Miller’s leadership, ProVia has made two acquisitions and experienced sustained growth.
  • Dennis Seaver is senior pastor for Immanuel Friends Church in Eden, North Carolina. Seaver has been a recorded pastor since 1993 with the Evangelical Friends Church - Eastern Region.
  • Alice Williams serves as director of federal taxes for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron. She has more than 30 years of professional tax experience and leads the worldwide aspects of Goodyear’s federal compliance function, is responsible for U.S. tax accounting, and directs the IRL real-time audit activities.

“It’s heartening to see the quality and character of our new group of trustees,” said Malone President David King. “They all have been very successful in their own fields and bring considerable expertise to an already strong Board. I look forward to working with them as we enhance the student experience through their engagement with the university."
