The Malone experience is never the same for any two graduates.

While some steeped themselves in academic rigor, others embraced the tight knit community found at Canton’s University, and many grew from the personal care that Malone staff and faculty have provided.

With such a colorful prism of experience, it only seems appropriate that, in celebration of the inauguration of Dr. Gregory J. Miller, PhD as Malone’s 14th president, Malone takes a moment to celebrate the memories and experiences of its community and allows them to tell us about Malone through their eyes and words.

Two contests, one in which applicants submitted a photo which encapsulated the essence and special character of the Malone experience and the other in which applicants submitted a brief essay describing the impact which Malone had on their lives, allowed the wider family of Pioneers a chance to reflect, share, and celebrate.

The winning photo submission came from Mikayla Craig ‘25. In her photo, students are illuminated by the winding LED lights on the nine-square court, a game that students new and old enjoy in the Quad.

“I have connected with so many people through playing nine-square, and I will forever be grateful for the ones that I’ve met,” said Craig.

The Malone community finds these moments in the events both big and small around campus, serving as a testament to the camaraderie and lifelong memories around each corner.

The winning essay submission was entered by Kirsten Main ‘94, in which she remembers life in Fox Hall, the places and people who impacted her journey, the failures and triumphs of her academic pursuits, and the personal and intentional attention provided to her as a Malone student.

“As I remember, sitting here in my classroom after 27 years of teaching, I have never been more grateful to God for the education given me by the Malone community,” wrote Main.

Main was able to paint a picture of the holistic growth that Malone affords its students; communally, academically, and spiritually.
