Family Weekend Schedule

Call 330.471.8454 to make your reservations.

Siblings ages 12 and older are invited to attend classes with parents and spend the night in the residence hall on Friday during Family Weekend. (Younger siblings will have their turn during Li'l Sibs Weekend in February.)

  • Malone students are responsible to secure housing for their sibling (s).
  • Guests must be housed with a responsible resident of the same gender.
  • Arrangements must be made prior to registration with the Office of Student Development.
  • The University does not provide meals for siblings. Breakfast may be registered for with Family Weekend reservations.

Friday, September 20


8 a.m.- 8 p.m.  Registration,  Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, Johnson Center

     Pick up your Family Weekend packet and schedule.

8 a.m.- 10 a.m.  Free Continental Breakfast, Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, Johnson Center

8 a.m.- 5 p.m. University Bookstore Open, Brehme Centennial Center

     Parents receive a 20% Family Weekend discount.

8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Art Exhibits Open

Anthony Molinaro 7:30 p.m.  Anthony Molinaro in Concert, Barn/Randall Campus Center

Watch Molinaro perform a piece from his new album. Hailed as "one of the hottest young pianists in the world," Anthony Molinaro's stunning performances and unique versatility have captivated audiences and critics alike since his victory at the 1997 Naumburg International Piano Competition in New York City. Acclaimed for his "edge-of-the-seat brilliance" and "musically imaginative mind,"  Mr. Molinaro's performances have taken him to major music centers throughout the country.

Saturday, September 21

8 a.m.- 12 noon Registration, Brehme Centennial Center

     Pick up your Family Weekend packet and schedule. After 12 noon, meal tickets may be picked up at the cashier's station in the Hoover Dining Commons.

8 - 10 a.m.  Breakfast Buffet with your Malone Student,  Brehme Conference Center,

Malone's President David and Winnie King will be in attendance from 9 -10 a.m. at this event hosted by the Parents Council . Please join us even if your student is not able to attend.

8 a.m.- 12 noon   Faculty Research ShowcaseGreat Hall, Brehme Centennial Center

8 a.m.- 1 p.m.  University Bookstore Open,  Brehme Centennial Center

     Parents receive a 20% Family Weekend discount.

8 a.m.- 4 p.m.  Silent Art Auction,  Deuble Room, Brehme Centennial Center

Proceeds from the auction will go to Love the Children Ministries (a non-profit started by alumna Heather Conley '08) to help provide school supplies and Christmas gifts for children in Canton.

9 a.m.- Noon  Classic Cars on Display, Basketball Court by Barn/Randall Campus Center

10 a.m.- 12 noon Pioneer "Street Fair," Behind Brehme Centennial Center

Visit displays featuring many of the clubs and student groups, peer tutoring, career services and global studies opportunities at Malone. Pick up your passport and have it stamped at each display. We will draw out four winning passports to receive a Pioneer gift basket.

10 a.m.- 12 noon   Free Fitness Assessments, Wellness Center

10 a.m. - 12 noon  Extended Visitation Hours, Residence Halls
Moms, dads and family members are welcome to visit their Malone student's home away from home!

10 a.m.- 1 p.m.  ZooArk Tours, Timken Science Hall

The ZooArk of Malone is the jewel of the science department.  We have three rooms: coral reef,  reptile, and the mammal and bird room. In the ZooArk, students are provided with the opportunity to care for and learn about the collection during their years here. As our guest in the ZooArk, you will learn about the collection, ask questions, and interact with some of the animals. What kind of animals?  Parrots, finches,doves, sugar gliders, mice, a rat, guinea pig, ferrets, fresh water and salt water fish, coral, shrimp, constrictor snakes, beardies, tegus, a tarantula and more. Come spend time with us!

11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.   Hoover Dining Commons open for Lunch

2 p.m.  Malone Pioneers vs. Hillsdale College, Fawcett Stadium

Stop by the blue and white Malone tent to register in the drawing to win a Malone University sweatshirt or blanket.

5 - 6 p.m.  "Family Comfort Away From Home" Buffet Dinner, Hoover Dining Commons

Menu includes: Fall Harvest Cobb Salad
Soups: Harvest Squash Sunset Bisque or Chicken and Dumpling,
Entrees: Gourmet BLT on Foccacia, Slow Roasted Rotisserie Chicken
Bowtie Pasta bar with Marinara, Alfredo and Bolognese Sauces
Pizza and assorted pizza breads with meat and vegetable fillings
Veggies: Hand cut JoJo Potatoes, Garlic roasted green beans, Honey carrots
Dessert: fresh baked Brownies, bars and cookies or warm Caramel Apple Pie
$10 per adult, $5 children
Malone meal plan students use ID swipe card.
