Spiritual Formation Resources

What are other ways that you can learn about or grow your faith?

If you've been looking around the Office of Spiritual Formation's web pages, you've seen info on how to figure out church, ways to read the Bible, great conferences and summer opportunities that you can become involved in, and info about campus groups studying faith and the Bible. Here, we've listed some other trusted resources to continue your journey of faith. Contact Director of Spiritual Formation Linda Leon at yyrba2+znybar+rqh for more details.

Ransom Fellowship

The goal of Ransom Fellowship is to help people of faith develop discernment and deepen discipleship. Their ministry includes lecturing, writing, teaching, feeding, and encouraging those who want to know more about what it means to be a Christian in the everyday life of the 21st century. Their website http://www.ransomfellowship.org/ and free publications provide LOADS of resources for you, and have been used by our office in countless programs. Feature articles; discerning looks at books, art, music, films, culture; all this and more are available to you at their website.

Office of Spiritual Formation receives "Critique", Ransom Fellowship's publication - check out the back issues that we keep on the turnstile outside of our office (Barn).

Hearts & Minds Bookstore

How do you know which, of the thousands of books on faith out there, are actually worth reading? Where can you find a resource on a particular topic that you're interested in, or that addresses a situation you're going through? Our staff buys our books from Hearts & Minds Bookstore in York, Penn. - they ship to you. If we don't know which book to order, a conversation with this bookstore clears it right up - they read everything they sell and discern what's best for us. Or, if we need a list of books covering a certain topic, they've got lists upon lists on their website http://www.heartsandmindsbooks.com/.

Their website reads:

Welcome to a bookstore which attempts to create a new space for serious, reflective readers. Unabashedly Christian, we are often told that we are different than most religious bookstores. Our name, we trust, gives a good first clue to what we are about.

What distinguishes us most is our enthusiasm for the development of a uniquely Christian worldview where Christ's Lordship is honored and lived out in relevant ways in the midst of our highly secularized, post-modern culture. We offer quality books for the sake of faithful Christian living. We serve business folk, scientists, artists, college students, moms, dads (and kids!), pastors, poets and politicos. We believe Biblical faith leads to "thinking Christianly" about every area of life.
