Honors Program

Honors Program at Malone University

Welcome to the Honors Program

The Honors Program at Malone University exists to support Malone’s intellectually gifted and highly motivated students as they respond to Christ’s call to love God with heart, soul, strength, and mind and as they move to transform themselves and their world as followers of Jesus Christ.

Honors Program students participate in both curricular and co-curricular activities. Sections of particular general education courses are open to honors students only. Small in size, these classes encourage critical and creative thinking and interactive learning. The sophomore seminar and junior colloquium are interdisciplinary in nature and focus on scholarship and leadership. The senior-level thesis, developed over two semesters, is an independent study with a faculty member of the student’s choice. Thesis projects can be traditional research or creative expression and represent advanced work not attempted in traditional courses.

Co-curricular activities both on campus and off-campus foster the development of the honors community as well as provide enriching activities for honors students. Honors activities are free of charge, a bonus for being involved in the program. The annual ice cream social the second week of fall semester kicks off honors activities for the year.

A particularly special event each year for students is the Undergraduate Research Symposium, as pictured at the top of this page.
