Malone University and the EFC-ER Partnership
Malone University’s deep-rooted partnership with the Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region (EFC-ER) began in 1892, when founders Walter and Emma Malone responded to God’s call to train young people for ministry. What started as a small Bible training school in a rented Cleveland home quickly grew, sending students into urban missions, global outreach, and church planting across North America and beyond.
Today, Malone continues that legacy through the Practical Ministry Certificate (PMC), launched in 2021 as a modern expression of its historic mission. In close collaboration with the EFC-ER, this program equips devoted Christ followers—pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders in the making—to serve faithfully and effectively in a wide range of ministry settings.
The Mission of Malone University
The mission of Malone University is to provide students with an education based on biblical faith in order to develop men and women in intellectual maturity, wisdom, and Christian faith who are committed to serving the church, community, and world. A Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions, Malone grounds its educational mission in the biblical call to seek Christ’s Kingdom First in all things.
The Mission of EFC-ER
The EFC-ER is a movement of connected churches intentionally working together to fulfill a common mission, vision, and core values based on the person and redemptive message of Jesus Christ. The mission of the EFC-ER is to equip its member churches to make disciples and the vision of the EFC-ER is to produce healthy, Christ-centered churches that produce disciples.
