Enrollment continues to grow at Malone University
Malone’s 2025 incoming class marks the third year in a row of growth for the Institution, even in the midst of enrollment declines nationwide.
This was not only made possible by the hard work and dedication of Malone employees, but by the Institution’s extended network of alumni, community, and church partners who understand the value of Malone’s Christian education in the professional marketplace.
At the start of the 2025 fall semester, Malone achieved a 4.8% increase over the incoming class of 2024, and a 10% increase over Fall 2023. These first-year undergraduate students have come from 22 states and 34 counties in Ohio, and not only demonstrate commitment to Malone’s mission, but to ways they will individually contribute to the campus community as well.
“Now in my third year at Malone, I am still inspired every day by the strength of our community and their relentless efforts to support each incoming student as they pursue God’s calling for their lives,” said Eric Young, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment management. “The enrollment climate for small colleges continues to be challenging, which means that our growth is worthy of celebrating. I can’t wait to see how our newest Pioneers find ways to make their mark at Malone.”
Malone’s ongoing growth is particularly evident amongst those who attend regional Christian high schools or come from the greater Ohio homeschool network. New student enrollments are steady from premier partner schools, including Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy and Lake Center Christian School, and there is also continued strength in a variety of academic disciplines such as nursing and zoo & wildlife biology. Other programs with notable growth include exercise science, education, ministry, and criminal & restorative justice.
Other noteworthy milestones for the start of the 2024-25 academic year include the addition of new faculty members representing the counseling, English, social work, exercise science, and music departments. Malone’s freshman-to-sophomore retention rate also remains at the highest it has been since 2020: 75%.
“I continue to be amazed at God’s favor on Malone’s behalf, and enrollment growth is just one way that He is showing us we are meeting a real need in our region and beyond,” said Greg Miller, president. “We will continue to faithfully prepare servant leaders for Kingdom work, and this upward trajectory makes a statement to our community, the State of Ohio, and beyond that a Christian university education is still desired by — and I’d argue necessary for— our next generation’s leaders.”
