Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio partners with Malone for Learn and Earn initiative

Malone University today announced a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio, a nonprofit Christian housing ministry committed to building safe, affordable homes, communities, and hope with low- to moderate-income families and individuals.
Since 1988, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio has partnered with more than 670 families to build and renovate safe, affordable homes across the region, empowering families through education, sweat equity investment, and the opportunity to purchase their homes through an affordable, 0% interest mortgage.
Aligned with Malone’s academic values, this partnership will organically prepare young professionals for careers that make a lasting impact in the lives of people in their communities. Students who participate will better understand Christ-centered stewardship in active ministry in Canton and beyond: lessons that will serve them as they go on to serve the Church, their communities, and the world.
“At Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio, we’re proud to partner with Malone University through the Learn and Earn program,” said Beth Lechner, CEO of Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio. “This impactful collaboration gives students real-world experience in nonprofit ministry while making a lasting difference. With many of our team members proudly representing Malone, it’s especially meaningful to see today’s students step into purpose-driven work and choose to grow their careers right here in our community.”
The Learn & Earn partnership with Habitat for Humanity will serve not only as a basis for developing career readiness but will also cultivate a meaningful work experience at an organization where Christ-centered ministry is an active part of daily work. By partnering with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Malone students are given opportunities to experience workplaces that reinforce the principles taught in their college classrooms.
“We are thrilled to welcome Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio as our newest Learn and Earn partner,” said Blaise Brankatelli, director of graduate & professional admissions and external partnerships. “As a fellow nonprofit rooted in Christian values, they share our deep commitment to serving others and strengthening our community. Together, we’re investing in the growth of Canton and the surrounding region while providing experiential learning for our students.”
