Malone begins renovations on DeVol Hall to create apartment-style housing

Campus News

Today, Malone begins construction that will convert DeVol Hall (formerly College Hill) into apartment-style housing. This is the first time in Malone history that this style of housing has been offered, and is also the first major building renovation on campus since 2008.

“We are so thrilled to be moving forward with renovations to DeVol Hall because we believe it will greatly enhance the residence life experience we are able to offer to our students,” said Gregory Miller, president. “We have been waiting for the right time to make enhancements in our housing facilities, and now is that time. We are thankful for God’s provision to make these changes possible.”

Contractors are beginning work so that the building will be available for the room selection process in Spring 2026 and ready for occupancy in the fall of 2026. Apartment options will include two bedrooms with a bath and three bedrooms with a bath. The selection process for the DeVol apartments will be folded into the standard room selection process and priority will be given based on class standing, beginning with rising seniors.

“We want our students to have a greater variety of housing options to choose from that will provide autonomy while strengthening our residential community,” said Anna Meadows, dean of students. “We also believe access to apartment-style living on campus will help our students reduce transportation and utility costs, which can quickly add up as a result of living in off-campus rentals.”

A Fall 2026 opening is anticipated for the DeVol apartments.

“We remain committed to offering a residential experience to our students that fosters belonging and a sense of Christian community, and we believe that all of these changes will strengthen student life at Malone,” said Miller.
