Frequent Questions About Admissions
What are your admissions criteria?
We use a holistic review process that considers each applicant’s academic performance and potential for academic success at Malone. While we typically look for a GPA of 2.5 or higher and an ACT score of 15 or above (or equivalent), we encourage anyone who feels Malone could be the right fit to apply.
How do I check my application status?
After you submit your application, you are welcome to check the status of your app anytime in the Application Portal.
When is my acceptance to Malone official?
While we consider you “accepted” upon approval of your application, we do need a final transcript from your high school upon graduation. Please ask your school counselor to provide it through our secure dropbox.
How do I apply for financial aid?
Your first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please include our school code (003072) with your submission.
What is my next step in the admissions process after I’m accepted to Malone?
It’s time to join the Pioneer family and we hope you’ll deposit today!
How do I pay my bill?
We accept several payment options, including online on MaloneXpress, by U.S.P.S, or in person. Learn more and contact the Business Office with questions.
Frequent Questions About Test Optional
How do I apply test optional?
It is as simple as answering “Yes” to the question, “Are you applying for test optional admissions?” on your admissions application.
What are the requirements to apply test optional?
Students applying test optional must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 in a rigorous high school academic curriculum. Test optional admission is specifically designed for first year students.
What if I’m not eligible to apply for test optional admissions?
Students not meeting the test optional criteria will be encouraged to apply through the traditional process and submit test scores.
I’m homeschooled. Do I qualify for test optional admissions?
Homeschooled students who have taken college courses while in high school, may apply test optional. If a homeschooled student has not taken any college level courses, we ask that they contact their admissions counselor for other options. Certainly one option would be to submit an ACT or SAT.
I’m an international student do I qualify for test optional admissions?
At this time international students do not qualify to apply test optional. They must continue to submit either an ACT, SAT or TOEFL.
Can I apply test optional if I want to be in the Honors Program?
You are welcome to apply test optional for admission into Malone University. However, to be considered for the Malone Honors Program you will need to submit your ACT or SAT score after your admission decision has been made so you can be considered for the Honors Program.
Am I eligible for academic scholarships if I apply test optional?
Yes, there is an academic scholarship grid especially for test optional students. Go to our financial aid page and select Scholarships and Grants to view the grid.
Frequent Questions About Senior Citizen Course Enrollment
Can senior citizens audit courses for free?
Yes, students who are 60 years or older may audit courses free of charge on a space-available basis. However, this does not apply to music, advanced topics, MGMT, tutorial, online, or activity courses.
Can senior citizens take courses for credit at a discounted rate?
Yes, students who are 70 years or older may take courses for credit at 50% of the tuition cost on a space-available basis.
Are course fees included in the tuition discount?
No, all course fees must be paid in full by the student and are not subject to discount.
