Malone University Writers Series Announces 2026 Lineup
In October and November, the 2026 Malone University Writers Series will feature three award-winning authors who will give on-campus readings which are free and open to the public.
Fiction writer A. Muia, whose novel-in-stories A Desert Between Two Seas won the 2024 Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction, will visit on October 6. On October 20, the series will host Sophfronia Scott, the founding director of Alma College’s MFA program. Scott has authored novels and nonfiction books, including The Seeker and the Monk: Everyday Conversations with Thomas Merton, which won the 2021 Louie Award from the International Thomas Merton Society. Professor of English and Creative Writing John Poch, from Grace College in Indiana, will read poetry on November 10. Poch was the inaugural Colgate University Creative Writing Fellow and has published eight collections of poetry, two of which won the New Criterion Poetry Prize and Donald Justice Award. He co-directs the Winona Christian Writer’s Conference.
All readings will take place at 7 p.m. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center at Malone. The Malone University Writers Series, run through the University’s English department, invites emerging and established writers to campus each autumn. It has continued for over a decade.
