Scholarship opportunities for full-time, undergraduate students
Qualification-Based Scholarships and Grants
Christian High School Scholarship & Homeschool Scholarship
Students who attend and graduate from a Christian high school or who are homeschooled will receive a $1,500 per year grant.* Students who attend one of our premier partner schools (Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Lake Center Christian School, and Lutheran High Schools East and West) will receive a $5,000 per year grant and are also eligible to participate in our Price Match program.
Evangelical Friends Scholarship
Incoming first-time freshmen who attend an Evangelical Friends church will receive a $5,000 per year grant.* Students who attend any EFC-ER church or a church in the Evana Network are also eligible to participate in our Price Match program.
Yellow Ribbon Grant
For members of the U.S. armed forces. Malone University proudly participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Our partnership with the GI Bill® covers up to 100% of tuition and fees for eligible service members. You may also qualify for $1,000 per year for books and a monthly housing allowance.

*Please note: No more than one of these scholarships can be awarded to a student at the same time and students who receive athletic scholarships are not eligible. Contact the Office of Admissions or Financial Aid for further information.
Talent/Merit-Based Scholarships
Scholars’ Day Scholarship/President’s Scholarship Competition
Students who either have at least a 3.6 GPA as well as either a 26 ACT/1240 SAT/81-83 CLT OR they have at least a 3.8 GPA with no test score requirement will be invited to our Scholars’ Day event. Participants are encouraged to apply to the honors program for special classes, honors housing options, and social activities. Two students will be are awarded a full-tuition President’s scholarship.
Malone Serves Scholarship Competition
Students who have demonstrated vision and leadership in their high school, community, and/or church will be invited to the Malone Serves event. Required GPA of 3.0 or above to participate. The top 15 participants will be awarded a $1,500 renewable scholarship. All recipients will participate in serve opportunities throughout the school year.
Athletics
Student-athletes wishing to compete in NCAA Division II may be eligible for athletic scholarships in addition to academic scholarships. These are awarded at the discretion of the coach and athletic director. In order to be eligible, athletes must have an account with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Honors Program Scholarship
Any student meeting the requirements for the program can apply. Students attending Scholars’ Day are also qualified to apply. Up to 40 $1,000 scholarships will be chosen. The deadline to apply is February 15.
Music Scholarship
Student musicians, regardless of major, are eligible to receive up to $3,000 in music scholarship funds in addition to other institutional aid.
Choose Ohio First Scholarship (COF)
The Choose Ohio First Scholarship is for eligible Ohio residents in STEM programs who can receive up to $8,000 annually. Priority given to applicants by February 1, 2026.
Eligibility:
- First-year or new students in STEM majors (e.g., Biochemistry, Nursing, Mathematics)
- 3.5+ GPA
- Completed 2025-26 FAFSA
Award Details:
- Up to $8,000/year
- Renewable with a 3.0 GPA
- Full-time enrollment required
Renewability: The award is renewable with a 3.0 GPA and continued enrollment in the same program. Renewal is based on academic progress, credit hours, and participation in STEM-related co-curricular activities. Awards are subject to fund availability from the Ohio General Assembly.
Endowed scholarship for students who are studying social sciences (history, political science, and integrated social studies)
The deadline to apply is February 1st.
Endowed scholarship for students who are members or attendees of one of six churches attended by Clarence R. and Fayetta Sekerak
Need-Based Scholarships
Stark County Scholars
For students who have graduated from a Stark County high school and plan to enroll at Malone, have sufficient financial need, and wish to commute to Malone, we offer a special scholarship program guaranteeing a no out-of-pocket tuition program. The program combines a Malone scholarship with state, federal, and loan funds to make up the financial aid package. Students must be accepted to the University, complete the financial aid process, and qualify for an Ohio College Opportunity Grant. We also offer an option which provides housing, and the student pays for board charges. Students can now choose between the commuter and on-campus option.
Northeast Ohio Transfer Advantage
Malone’s Transfer Advantage Scholarship supports academically qualified transfer students with financial need. This program, an extension of our Stark County Scholars initiative, covers tuition and comprehensive fees for up to eight semesters with a 2.8 GPA.
To qualify, students must:
- Reside in or graduate from high school in select Northeast Ohio counties: Stark, Summit, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Trumbull, Portage, Mahoning, Columbiana, Carroll, Tuscarawas, Wayne, and Holmes.
- Demonstrate financial need through FAFSA
- Have a 2.8 GPA
What’s covered: Tuition and fees
What the student pays: Books, room and board (if living on campus), and enrollment deposit
Stark State Alumni Scholars
For students who have graduated from Stark State College and plan to enroll at Malone, have sufficient financial and wish to commute to Malone, we offer a special scholarship program guaranteeing a no out-of-pocket tuition program. Foster Care/Orphan Scholarship
Full tuition, room, board—including funds to help cover books—is included. Award is inclusive of all state, federal, and loan funds that the student qualifies to receive, as well as funds up to the cost of enrollment. Two scholarships are available each year. Federal Work Study
Federal Work Study (FWS) is a self-help form of financial aid awarded to resident students with financial need who file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to March 1. This award, if you qualify, will be listed on your financial aid award letter and may vary in amount from $700 to $2,500 per year. You must work part-time at an on-campus FWS position in order to earn your award amount. You are only paid for actual hours worked.
Other Opportunities
Cross-Pointe Church Scholarship Fund
This scholarship opportunity is available for full or part-time students in undergraduate or graduate study, who attend Cross Pointe Church (711 25th Street, Canton) who meet eligibility requirements. Applications can be obtained and must be returned to the main office of the church prior to August 1 for fall semesters and December 1 for spring semesters. Scholarships are awarded in dollar amounts of $1,000 to $5,000, per year. Awards are paid directly to the Business Office and credited to the student’s account.
To be eligible, students must be invested in the Cross Pointe Church community, attending an average of three Sunday morning services monthly for three months before applying (June, July, & August are excluded). Students must have a history of volunteering at Cross Pointe for at least three months in at least one ministry preceding their application date. Examples are serving in the nursery, church coffee café, cleaning team, etc. (Applications must be submitted with the ministry leader’s signature confirming volunteer involvement.)
