Empowering Research & Learning: Library Support for Information Literacy and Faculty Collaboration

The library is committed to supporting information literacy through bibliographic instruction, faculty/classroom interaction, personal assistance, and web-based tutorials.

We are happy to work with instructors/classes in designing sessions to meet specific needs.

Sampling of Past Work

  • Nursing student information literacy assessment
  • Project specific instruction in the classroom with hands-on follow-up in the computer lab
  • General orientation sessions
  • Interactive group work with students
  • Setting up Wikis for students to work with after the original orientation session
  • Incremental research skills teaching across several courses within a discipline

Information Literacy

Malone graduates will be eager to learn and apply their knowledge in service to others. They will know how to identify their information needs, find reliable sources, evaluate them critically, and integrate new knowledge into their beliefs and values. They will also use information effectively, ethically, and legally to achieve their goals as responsible Christians.

Liaison Program

To better support the Malone community, our library staff offers personalized service to each academic department. They are your go-to resource for library and research needs. Our support extends beyond the library itself—we’re here to help wherever you need us.

Examples of Our Services

  1. Meeting with faculty to assess needs in library resources and information literacy instruction.
  2. Collaborating with faculty for research-related assignments. We welcome copies of course syllabi and assignments so we can prepare supporting material in advance.
  3. Speaking in classes and showing students and faculty course-related resources.
  4. Providing individualized orientations, and packets of resources, to all faculty (including new and adjunct).

Subject-specific research guides can be provided to coincide with classroom handouts for particular assignments.
