Summer Housing for Interns and Groups at Malone University
Malone University offers convenient and affordable summer housing options for individuals and organized groups. Whether you’re completing an internship in the Canton area or bringing a group to campus for a summer event, our accommodations provide a comfortable and welcoming environment. Summer Interns
Have you been hired for a summer internship in the Canton area? No need for a stressful short-term apartment search! Malone University offers affordable, comfortable, and convenient overnight accommodations between May 18 – August 9, 2025.
Our air-conditioned residence hall rooms (suite style with semi-private restroom facility) include twin beds, desks, chairs, dressers, and closets. All residence hall housing has free wireless internet, cable, laundry facilities, and parking.
The deadline to apply for summer housing is May 1. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications after this date.
Rate
The Summer 2025 long-term housing rate per person (single sleeping room in Haviland Hall with semi-private restroom) is $140 per week.
Food
The Hoover Dining Commons is open only at peak times during the summer months to accommodate large camps and conferences.
A kitchen is also available for summer intern use. Giant Eagle (grocery store) is located less than one mile from campus, on 30th Street in Canton.
Eligibility
- 18 years of age or older for the duration of their stay on campus
- Enrolled as a matriculated student at an accredited college or university for the duration of their stay on campus
- Employed in an internship or supervised research program in the greater Canton area for the summer.
PLEASE NOTE: Age, enrollment, and employment will be verified through the application process. Also, a minimum 8-week stay is required. No exceptions can be made to the eligibility criteria.

Frequently asked questions for summer intern housing
When is summer intern housing available at Malone University?
Housing is available starting May 18 at 3 p.m. and ending August 9 at 10 a.m.
How do I apply for summer intern housing?
Complete the Summer Intern Housing Application Request Form.
Is there a deposit required?
A deposit, equal to the first month’s rent, must be submitted upon approval of your housing request form (received via email). The deposit confirms your intention to stay in Malone University’s summer intern housing during the summer of 2025. It will be applied toward your rent.
Do I have to sign a lease?
Yes. You are required to sign a lease in order to live at Malone University. Leases must be signed no later than 10 business days prior to your move-in date. Failure to sign your lease within the allotted time may result in cancellation of your housing.
Can I change my move-in and move-out dates?
Move-in and move-out dates may be changed until you sign the lease agreement. However, once your lease has been signed, no changes or refunds of deposits or rental payments will be permitted.
Who do I contact in case of an emergency while I am on campus?
Malone’s Campus Safety team is available to address emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can be contacted by calling 330-471-8111.
Are there medical facilities near Malone University?
Yes. Mercy Medical Hospital is located 1.3 miles from the campus, and Aultman Hospital is located 3.9 miles from the campus.
Will I have a mailing address while I live at Malone University?
Yes. The mailing address will be provided to you upon check-in. You will be issued a campus mailbox.
Is wireless internet available?
Yes. Wireless internet is available campus-wide and is included in the rent at no additional charge.
Are there laundry facilities in the residence halls?
Yes, there are laundry facilities in each building. All laundry facilities are included in the rent at no additional charge.
Are guests allowed to visit me?
Yes, guests are permitted as long as they are not live-in guests. All interns are expected to adhere to the Malone University Student Code of Conduct. Guests are included in these policies.
Are there behavioral expectations for me while I live at Malone University?
Yes. All interns are expected to adhere to the Malone University Student Code of Conduct.
When do I have to move out?
Due to the start of the academic year and the preparations that must be made to all rooms, all interns need to be completely moved out by 10 a.m. on August 9. Failing to do so will result in fines.
How do I make rent payments?
First month’s rent is due upon signing the lease agreement. Rent payments are due the last day of the month for the following month (e.g., June’s rent is due May 31). Failure to pay rent on time will result in a $50.00 late fee. Payments can be made via check or credit card using a secure link provided by Malone. Payment information will be included in your lease agreement.
Are rent payments prorated?
Yes. Rent payments are prorated by week. Each rental week runs Sunday through Saturday. Regardless of which day you move in or out during a week, rent is charged for the entire week.
Example of a rental week:
- Sunday, May 18 – Saturday, May 24 (first week available)
- Sunday, August 3 – Saturday, August 9 (final week available)
Malone will allow interns to move out of the residence halls no later than 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9. Failure to comply will result in additional fees.
Accommodations for groups during the summer
Malone University can host your church or youth group conferences and retreats, as well as high school band camps, local missions trips, and teams who work at or participate in the annual Professional Football Hall of Fame Festival.

- Creating a mutually-agreeable contract and answering your questions

- Serving as liaison between you and various campus departments
- Assisting you with the registration process when your group arrives by distributing residence hall access cards and room keys, as well as collecting them when you depart
- On-call availability to assist you while you are here
Venues and Rates
Malone has a variety of meeting spaces available, both inside and outside.
Residence Halls/Campus Accommodations
Overnight accommodations for groups are available from mid-May through the first weekend in August. We offer air conditioned residence halls (suite style with semi-private restroom) as well as non-air conditioned residence halls (traditional style with community restrooms).
The majority of sleeping rooms are double occupancy; very few single occupancy rooms are available. Each room includes twin size beds, desks, chairs, dressers, and closets for each occupant.
We recommend that you provide your own linens (pillow, sheets, blanket, towels, and toiletry items), but if it is more convenient for your group, we can arrange to rent linen packages for groups of 30 or more with three weeks advanced notice. Let us know if you would like to obtain pricing for rentals.
Campus Safety
Campus Safety is available 24 hours a day. The University is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Malone University campus is smoke-free and alcohol-free.
Campus Recreational Facilities
Campus guests may use the running track, outdoor basketball courts, and sand volleyball court when not booked for a camp.
The Wellness Center has limited hours during the summer and adult guests are permitted to utilize the facility for a fee. Arrangements need to be made in advance.
Campus Dining Facilities
Meals and catering are provided by AVI Fresh, Malone’s contracted food service provider. The Hoover Dining Commons is located in the Brehme Centennial Center, second floor, and is arranged in a food-court style with multiple stations.
Bookstore
The campus bookstore is located on the first floor of the Brehme Centennial Center.
