In response to market demand and the evolving needs of employers in our region, Malone University will now offer innovative Competency Based Education (CBE) course offerings for Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidates.

Designed to enable candidates to demonstrate knowledge in specific subject areas and move through course materials quickly, CBE courses can be completed at a pace set by the student. This program is not bound by a traditional semester schedule; rather, MBA candidates work individually with a faculty member at a pace that suits their busy schedule.

“CBE courses are designed to allow students that have acquired advanced skill or competency in a particular subject matter to take courses in an accelerated format, essentially at their own pace,” said Andre Payne, Ph.D., chair of the department of business and technologies at Malone. “We are thrilled to be one of the first institutions within the CCCU (Council for Christian Colleges & Universities) to offer Competency Based Education. We believe this will go a long way toward offering an equitable learning environment that ensures students are provided the opportunity to demonstrate mastery, while having autonomy over their learning.”

Beginning in 2024, CBE course offerings at Malone will include Organizational Behavior, Leadership Communication, and Managerial Finance. Malone’s fully online MBA program can be completed in as little as 12 months and offers three specializations to choose from: Business & Data Analytics, Philanthropy & Human Resource Development, and Social Enterprise, Innovation, & Entrepreneurship.
