Housekeeper

About the position

Reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Building Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment of all assigned areas on campus. Assigned areas may include public buildings with private offices, event venues, student dormitories, student rooms and cooking and eating facilities. This position completes their duties while noting and addressing safety concerns, both physical and environmental, for the benefit of the campus.

$12/hr

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities

  1. Clean and disinfect bathrooms daily.
  2. General dusting.
  3. Vacuum carpeted areas and runners as needed.
  4. Spot clean tile floors daily and mop all floors as needed (dry mop and wet mop when necessary).
  5. Clean entrance doors and glass.
  6. Empty waste baskets.
  7. Remove cobwebs.
  8. Clean and sanitize drinking fountains and hard surfaces.
  9. Replenish restroom supplies.
  10. Maintain organized and fully stocked supply storage closets. Inventory cleaning supplies and equipmentand requisition on a weekly basis.
  11. Clean chalk/dry erase boards as needed.
  12. Spot check windows and clean as needed.
  13. Complete routine inspections of all assigned areas on a monthly basis noting items and areas that needin-depth attention. Complete follow-up documentation.
  14. Attend in-house safety and training meetings at the direction of theHousekeeping Supervisor.
  15. Work occasional overtime on weekends and special events when needed.(graduation, homecoming, athletic events, etc....)
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must exhibit a personal understanding of, and operate in concert with the Mission statement and Foundational Principals of the University. Previous, applicable experience in the general housekeeping field of at least 1 year is preferred.

A proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is essential. Proven effective relational skills are also required. A demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of people and a demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and complete projects independently is essential.

Proven time management skills, the ability to prioritize and record keeping abilities are essential. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of sensitive materials is essential. Hours and days per week may occasionally vary based on the needs of the events cycle. Evening and weekend work may be necessary at times.
