Led by Josh Pancher, Young Adult Pastor at Faith Family Church. Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Emma's.
Spiritual Formation Opportunities are part of the distinctive Malone experience, a vital portion of the holistic growth of each student.
At Malone, every full-time student is required to earn 20 SFO credits each semester but can decide which to attend. Options include everything from large worship gatherings to small Bible studies, with diverse leaders and topics, as well as opportunities scheduled throughout the day and week, all in an effort to effectively minister to today's college student.
Life Groups are smaller in size than other SFOs and are designed to offer students an opportunity for deeper degrees of Christian community and to receive personal discipleship from individuals with spiritual maturity.
Please see below for a list of all the available Life Groups for this semester and the above Google Calendar for the complete schedule, as each Life Group does not necessarily occur on a weekly basis.
SFO Guidelines and Procedures
Students present their ID cards to be scanned at each Spiritual Formation Opportunity to allow our office to keep attendance, which can be accessed by each student on his/her MaloneXpress page. Late-arriving students will not be allowed to scan their ID cards. Any discrepancies in your SFO credits must be addressed with the Office of Spiritual Formation within 10 days of the event. No adjustments will be made after this time period.
Students not meeting the minimum expectation of Spiritual Formation Opportunities will receive a fine on their Malone account. These fines will be assessed on the last regular class day of the semester at 5 p.m and are processed through the Malone University Business Office. The number of credits will determine the amount of the fine. For example, 19 credits = $35 fine; 18 credits = $70 fine, etc. The money received from these fines will benefit future Malone students attending the annual Jubilee Conference via the Office of Spiritual Formation. Students who are enrolled in EDUC 460 and Student Teaching for the semester are exempt from the SFO participation requirement.
Our office understands the needs of students and welcomes a healthy and productive discourse about Spiritual Formation guidelines at Malone. If you find yourself in an extenuating life circumstance or are unsure if the requirement applies to you, please use the form found here to begin a conversation with us. Please note that completion of this form does not guarantee an in-person meeting, a reduction, or an exemption. All forms will be considered and a response or request for a meeting will be emailed to you. Forms must be submitted within the first month of the semester.
