Accelerated Program in Psychology and Counseling
The Accelerated Program in Psychology and Counseling provides students with a fast track to obtaining both a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling. In addition to these two degrees, students who complete the program will become eligible for licensure as a clinical mental health or professional school counselor. As the necessary workforce of counseling grows in demand, this practical and fast program prepares students to meet their future clients' needs.
Applied Psychology
Applied Psychology will prepare students to work with individuals who struggle with chemical dependency and addiction by giving them a tangible and practical view of psychology while emphasizing care for those directly impacted by a societal epidemic. Program graduates will be eligible to take the exam that leads to the Chemical Dependency Counseling Assistant Certificate, a State of Ohio designation that leads directly to immediate employment.
Chemical Dependency Counseling
The chemical dependency counseling (CDC) program provides an opportunity to gain essential knowledge regarding substance abuse symptoms and counseling treatment strategies. The program is aligned with the educational requirements for the CDC Assistant, Phase 1, certification in the state of Ohio.
Counseling Certificates
Designed to equip those who desire to serve those with trauma and addictions with increased competency and efficiency, the Graduate Certificate in Trauma Counseling and Graduate Certificate in Addictions Counseling at Malone are both offered fully online and can be completed within two semesters (Trauma Counseling) or one calendar year (Addictions Counseling) of study. The programs were created to address a critical need for counseling practitioners in Stark County, and Ohio, as substance use, behavioral disorders, and trauma are projected to continue outpacing the current counseling workforce.
Criminal & Restorative Justice
Criminal & Restorative Justice will open the door to more than a career in law enforcement. This major can prepare you to pursue a career at the local, state, or federal level in a variety of fields and positions. Criminal justice prepares graduates for work in a variety of positions in the legal system.
Data Analytics
Data Analytics at Malone draws substantially from math and computer science. Graduates of the program will be able to serve their organizations and businesses by inspecting and modeling data with the goal of discovering information that can be used in decision-making.
Digital Arts
Digital Arts at Malone will equip students in the development of various audio-visual mediums commonly found in the workplace. With a combination of graphic design and media production courses available, digital media students will gain practical knowledge and skills proficiency to help them become multimedia specialists.
Hospitality and Tourism
Hospitality and Tourism will prepare students for roles in the world’s largest service industry. Those interested in careers in hotels, restaurants, cruise lines, theme parks, tour operations, travel agencies, resorts, and convention & visitors bureaus will benefit from a broad-based foundation in the current fundamental of hospitality management and tourism. Malone’s northeast Ohio location will allow students to gain experiential learning opportunities with our many partners throughout the region, including 300 hours of paid internship work so that they are employment-ready upon graduation.

Human Services will prepare students to serve the most vulnerable in society by applying the principles of social work to the tangible, hands-on work of strengthening communities. Coursework will be person-centered in its approach and students will be able to experience their work before graduation through exposure to the court system or social service organizations like community outreach centers.
Online MSN
Malone University now offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program that can be completed fully online. Building on the strengths of Malone’s respected MSN degree, which is currently delivered in a hybrid model, the new online offering is shaped to meet the needs of practicing registered nurses. The online modality provides more flexibility and accessibility for students who want to grow and advance in their career by earning the MSN.
Professional Writing and Editing
Professional Writing and Editing will train students to use their creative gifts to become writers in professional settings. This program leverages the humanities-based study of English for the workplace environment through a concentration in digital arts, marketing, communication, or creative writing. Internship and off-campus experiential learning opportunities are plentiful.
Spanish for Service and the Professions
Spanish for Service and the Professions at Malone functions as a 15-hour minor meant to be paired with any professional or helping program. It emphasizes an innovative approach to Spanish language education that promotes workplace readiness. Students will develop linguistic skills of intermediate, high, or advanced low according to the scale of the American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages’ www.actfl.org guidelines for Oral Proficiency Levels in the Workplace.
Urban Studies
Urban Studies will prepare students for roles in community and economic development, community organizing, urban ministry, non-profit organization management, and service to city government. The program draws upon a wide range of disciplines including history, sociology, social work, political science, and business. Additional elements of the program will include hands-on learning opportunities in the City of Canton with a focus on justice, civic responsibility, peace, and reconciliation.
